New Delhi, May 21: Two days before the counting of votes for the 2019 general elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah hosted a get together for its allies in the NDA (National Democratic Alliance), with a special dinner. The meeting over dinner at Delhi's Ashoka Hotel comes after the exit polls on Sunday predicted a comfortable with for the NDA. The exit polls predicted NDA second term with over 300 of 543 seats in Lok Sabha. The dinner is being attended by most of the NDA leaders, many of whom had arrived in the capital this morning.

The guest list includes Janata Dal (United) president and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Akali leader Parkash Singh Badal and his son Sukhbir Badal, AIADMK's E Palaniswamy and O Pannerselvam, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, Apna Dal leader Anupriya Patel and Republican Party of India (A) chief Ramdas Athawale.

"With the NDA family. Our alliance represents India's diversity and our agenda is India's progress. We are best suited to address regional aspirations and enhance national progress," PM Modi tweeted after the event.

The dinner is believed to comprise of nearly 35 dishes ranging from Maharashtra’s popular Puran Poli to special delicacies of the North-East. Besides all this, famous dishes of Delhi along with Gujarat’s special thali will be served today. Reports state that the meeting is to chalk out a plan for the post-poll scenario.

Before dinner, PM Modi was felicitated by alliance leaders. “I congratulate Team Modi Sarkar for their hard work and remarkable achievements in the last 5 years. Let us keep this momentum going for a New India under the leadership of PM @narendramodi,” Shah tweeted shortly after the meeting.

The ruling party is buoyed by exit polls that predicted that Modi government will return to power with a comfortable majority. Check here what exit poll predictions by news channels look like. The BJP-led NDA, which won 2014 general elections with 336 seats, is again expected to cross the 300-mark in the 543 member Lok Sabha, as per many exit polls.
