Explanation for the Tally
Addressing the unusual outcome, Kailashchand explained to news agency PTI that he was registered as a voter in a different constituency and could not even cast a ballot for himself in the ward where he was fielded. "I got one vote. My vote is in Ward 12. I was fielded from Ward 13. Someone from that ward has voted for me," he said.
Municipal Poll Context
The Parbatsar municipality comprises 25 wards in total. The Congress party secured a simple majority by winning 13 wards, while the Bharatiya Janata Party captured the remaining 12. Kailashchand's result stood out as vote counting progressed across 309 urban local bodies statewide, where over 10,000 councillor posts were contested.
