Lucknow: Sub-Inspector Dharmveer Shahi Suspended After Student Alleges S*x Demands To Expedite Probe
A Lucknow police sub-inspector, Dharmveer Shahi, was suspended and booked after a B.Ed student accused him of s*xual exploitation, assault, and threats while investigating her case. Promising marriage, Shahi exploited her from March to July before she learned he was married. Police have launched an inquiry under the Cantonment ACP.
A Senior Sub-Inspector (SSI) posted at Lucknow’s Ashiyana police station has been suspended and arrested after a B.Ed student accused him of s*xually exploiting her under the false promise of marriage while investigating an earlier complaint she had filed. Following the allegations, an FIR was registered against SSI Dharmveer Shahi, and the case has been handed over to the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Cantonment, for a detailed inquiry.
According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, the complainant had originally filed a case against a man from Uttar Pradesh’s Basti district, alleging physical relationship under false promises of marriage. That case was transferred to the Ashiyana police station in Lucknow via a zero FIR, where Shahi was appointed as the investigating officer.
Allegations of Exploitation and Physical Assault
In her complaint, the student stated that Shahi summoned her to the police station on February 21, informing her that he would personally oversee the case. She alleged that he subsequently began calling her frequently, making inappropriate comments, and later insisted that s*x was necessary to strengthen the investigation due to the age of the original case.
When she resisted, Shahi reportedly assured her that he would marry her and give her the status of a wife. Believing his promises, the complainant stated she was s*xually exploited multiple times between March and July.
The matter escalated about a month and a half ago when the woman accompanied Shahi to Varanasi, where she discovered that he was already married. Upon confronting him and insisting on marriage, the officer allegedly began avoiding her and subsequently assaulted and verbally abused her. ‘Why Didn’t You Salute Me?’: Mithilesh Shukla Arrested for Posing As IPS Officer, Demanding Salute During INR 40 Tea Stall Dispute in Lucknow (Watch Video).
