An engineer and his fiancée were waylaid by a group in Madhya Pradesh's Guna district. The attackers dragged them into a forest, robbed them, and allegedly gang-raped the woman. Police have formed an SIT to trace the absconding suspects. The incident occurred near the Hanuman Tekri shrine, approximately 25 kilometres from the district headquarters.
An engineer and his 26-year-old fiancée were waylaid and attacked by a group of men in Madhya Pradesh's Guna district late Thursday, July 30, police said. The assailants allegedly gang-raped the woman, subjected her to torture with a wooden stick, and robbed the couple after dragging them into a roadside forest. Authorities have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to trace the perpetrators, who managed to flee the scene following the assault.
How the Attack Unfolded in Guna
The incident occurred near the Hanuman Tekri shrine, approximately 25 kilometres from the district headquarters, as the couple was returning from a temple visit on a two-wheeler. Around 8:00 PM, the group flagged the couple down near a highway petrol pump under the pretext that their motorcycle had a flat tyre. "The moment the engineer pulled over, the accused allegedly pounced on the couple, snatched the ignition keys, and forcibly dragged the duo into the nearby forest," police noted.
Robbery and S*xual Assault
According to the complainant, the attackers called in accomplices once the couple was forced into the secluded area. The group physically assaulted the victims, raining blows on them, striking them with sticks, and snatching their cellphones along with their two-wheeler. "The assailants later took the engineer away before s*xually assaulting his fiancée," the complainant alleged. The ordeal was cut short when a passerby heard the couple's desperate cries for help and immediately alerted the Dial 112 emergency helpline, prompting a swift police response and the subsequent formation of the SIT to apprehend the culprits.
