A 41-year-old school teacher in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district ended up with two fractured ribs after two bystanders, believing she had suffered a heart attack, administered CPR on her while she had actually fainted due to heat-related dizziness. The incident took place in the Kailaras area, where Lalita Dhakad, a teacher at Tilonjari Higher Secondary School, fell off her scooter after feeling dizzy from the heat. She was later found unconscious on the roadside and rushed to hospital, where doctors determined that her injuries were caused not by a heart attack but by the prolonged chest compressions performed on her.
How The Incident Unfolded
Two young men passing through the area spotted Dhakad lying unconscious on the roadside. Assuming she had suffered a cardiac arrest, they immediately began performing CPR at the spot. They then placed her in their vehicle and rushed her to Kailaras Hospital, continuing chest compressions throughout the journey in an effort to save her life.

Doctors Rule Out Heart Attack
At Kailaras Hospital, Block Medical Officer Dr Manish Sharma and his team examined Dhakad and confirmed that she had not suffered a heart attack. Her condition stabilised following treatment, but she continued to complain of severe chest pain. An X-ray later revealed that two of her ribs had fractured. Doctors attributed the injury to the prolonged and likely incorrect administration of CPR by the bystanders.
After receiving first aid, she was referred to a hospital in Gwalior for further treatment.
