The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA), headed by IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe, has taken strict enforcement action against multiple food businesses across Mumbai following inspections that uncovered severe violations of food safety and hygiene regulations. The regulatory sweep resulted in the suspension of food licences for five establishments and the outright cancellation of licences for three others.

Targeted Establishments and Violations

The state-wide FDA enforcement drive, conducted between October 1 and 5 ahead of the festive season, flagged major shortcomings in commercial food spaces. Among the prominent names facing regulatory penalties are Suraj Lama Momos in Andheri West and EatClub in Bandra West, both of which faced licence suspensions. Other establishments facing licence suspensions include:

  • Cafe Sultan
  • Lo Fresh Food Pvt Ltd
  • Country Club
  • Cafe Pakeezah

Additionally, the FDA took the harsher step of cancelling the licences of Blinkit and Copenhagen Hospitality.

Enforcement Drive Ahead of Festive Season

The latest actions form part of an ongoing, intensive statewide crackdown by the FDA to monitor food quality and safety standards as consumer demand surges during the festive period. Regulatory authorities have reiterated that inspections will remain stringent across commercial kitchens, dark stores, cloud kitchens, and eateries to protect public health.
