Man Brings Snake to Firozabad Hospital After Snakebite, Panic Engulfs After Reptile Escapes From Box (Video)
A snake escaped inside Firozabad Medical College’s government trauma centre after snake charmer Wasim, bitten by the reptile, brought it in a plastic box for treatment. The escape triggered panic among patients and staff. A Forest Department team searched the ward and surrounding areas for four hours, but the snake remained untraced till late night.
A snake escaped inside the government trauma centre of Firozabad Medical College in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday night, September 17, after a snake charmer, who had been bitten by the reptile, brought it to the hospital in a plastic box. The incident triggered panic among patients, attendants and medical staff, with some patients getting off their beds as the snake disappeared into the hospital premises.
The snake charmer, identified as Wasim from Jarouli Kala village under Tundla police station, had reportedly been bitten on the hand at around 8 pm, Amar Ujala reported. He captured the snake, placed it in a plastic box and reached the government trauma centre with his family at around 8:30 pm for treatment. During treatment, the box was opened and the snake escaped. Snake Escapes Into The Hospital Ward
According to the reports, doctors were treating Wasim in the Medical Intensive Care Unit when the box's lid opened and the snake slipped out. It ran towards the ward and disappeared, prompting patients, attendants and hospital staff to move away from the area.
Some healthcare workers and attendants climbed onto beds while others began searching for the snake. Patients also became alarmed, with reports stating that even some people receiving oxygen support got up from their beds. The hospital administration informed the Forest Department, following which a team reached the trauma centre and began a search. 4-Hour Search Fails To Locate Snake
The Forest Department team, along with hospital staff and others, searched beneath beds, in corners, inside the ward and in surrounding areas for around four hours. The search continued late into the night, but the snake could not be located.
The ward was subsequently cleaned, and hospital staff and attendants were advised to remain alert. The search operation did not establish where the snake had gone after escaping from the box.
After the incident, Wasim reportedly left the trauma centre along with his attendants. A hospital security guard also submitted a complaint concerning the bringing of the snake into the government hospital premises and its subsequent escape.
