A woman from Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh survived a severe snake bite after being attacked five times while cleaning her kitchen. Doctors treated Radha Bai Ahirwar with 35 anti-snake venom injections within 24 hours, including 10 doses in the first 40 minutes. She later underwent surgery for swelling caused by venom and has now been discharged.

A woman in Madhya Pradesh's Narmadapuram district survived a severe snake bite after doctors administered 35 anti-snake venom (ASV) injections within 24 hours. Radha Bai Ahirwar, a resident of Jheel Pipariya village, was bitten five times by a snake while cleaning her kitchen. Doctors said her condition was critical when she arrived at the hospital, but timely treatment helped save her life.
According to the Bhaskar English report, the incident occurred on July 13 when Radha Bai was sweeping utensils and cleaning her kitchen after cooking. According to her account, a black snake hidden among the utensils suddenly attacked her, biting her right hand and palm multiple times within nearly two minutes. Snake Bite During Kitchen Cleaning
Radha Bai said she noticed a black snake, approximately five feet long, among the utensils kept inside a cupboard. Before she could react, the snake bit her right palm. When she moved her hand, the snake attacked again. She said the reptile bit her five times as she tried to shake it away. After the incident, she fainted and fell inside the house.
Family Initially Turned to Traditional Treatment

By then, the effects of the venom had started becoming visible. Her eyes became heavy and she developed breathing difficulties. The family then rushed her to Pipariya Civil Hospital at around 2:10 pm.
Doctors Administered 35 Anti-Snake Venom Injections
Dr Devendra Thakur, who treated Radha Bai, said she was in a serious condition when she reached the hospital. According to him, her eyes were closing and the venom was spreading rapidly through her body. She was also experiencing difficulty breathing.
Doctors administered 10 anti-snake venom injections within the first 40 minutes after assessing the severity of the bite. Over the next 24 hours, she received a total of 35 injections, including 25 anti-snake venom (ASV) injections and 10 atropine injections.
Following treatment, her condition improved. However, one finger remained swollen due to the effect of the venom, requiring an operation at the district hospital.
Radha Bai's husband Sukhram works as a labourer, and the couple has a daughter studying in Class 5. After the incident, Radha Bai has been unable to return to work, affecting the family's financial condition. The family has requested financial assistance from the administration.
