Mathura: Overheard Call Exposes Woman Who Strangled 3-Year-Old Son for Crying While Talking to Lover
A Mathura woman was booked for allegedly strangling her 3-year-old son after his continuous crying disrupted her phone call with her lover. The incident surfaced a month later when her husband overheard her discussing it. The accused has not been arrested yet and that further action will depend on the findings of the post-mortem report.
Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district have registered a case against a 32-year-old woman for allegedly strangling her three-year-old son to death after the toddler’s crying disrupted her phone call with an alleged lover. The incident occurred on June 28 in Chhauli village under the Baldev police station area, with authorities taking official action following disclosures made by the family.
Overheard Phone Conversation Exposes Incident
The matter surfaced nearly a month after the toddler’s death when the child’s father, Krishna Murari Gupta, allegedly overheard his wife, Ruchi Jindal, discussing the circumstances of their son's death during a phone conversation on Monday, July 27. Following the disclosure, the woman’s brother-in-law, Govind Gupta, examined her mobile call logs, which revealed frequent and lengthy communications with a man. Ruchi Jindal subsequently admitted to the act before her family and investigating officers.
Initial Suspicions and Burial
On the day of the incident, Krishna Murari Gupta, who operates a local medical store, received a call from his wife stating that their son had fallen ill after crying continuously and had become unresponsive. The family rushed the toddler to local medical practitioners and later to a private hospital in Mathura, where doctors declared him dead. Because the child had been administered polio drops earlier that same day, the family initially believed his sudden illness was related to the vaccination. Unaware of any potential foul play at the time, the family buried the child’s body without alerting the authorities.
Police Investigation and Exhumation Plans
Law enforcement authorities have formally initiated legal proceedings based on a formal complaint filed by the family. "A case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder has been registered on a complaint lodged by Govind Gupta," said Baldev Station House Officer Ajay Sharma, noting that the accused has not been arrested yet and that further action will depend on the findings of the post-mortem report. Police officials are now preparing to exhume the child's body to conduct a formal forensic examination. "The child's body would be exhumed for a post-mortem examination, and legal action would be taken based on the findings," stated Deputy Superintendent of Police (Mahavan) Sanjeev Kumar Rai.
