Minor Girl Allegedly Raped at Delhi Hotel by Man She Met Through Social Media

A minor girl was allegedly raped at a hotel in north Delhi’s Wazirabad area by a man she had met through social media, police said on Thursday. The accused, who is also a resident of Wazirabad, is currently absconding and police teams are conducting raids to trace him. According to police, the girl and the accused became acquainted through social media. The man allegedly took the minor to a hotel on the pretext of their friendship, where the alleged assault took place.

After returning home, the girl informed her family about the incident. Her family subsequently approached the police, following which the girl underwent a medical examination and her statement was recorded. Based on the girl's statement and the medical examination, Wazirabad police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other applicable sections, officials said. The accused has been absconding since the incident. Police teams are conducting raids at possible locations as part of efforts to locate and apprehend him. Investigators are also examining how the minor was allowed to enter the hotel.
