Mumbai, August 28: The Mizoram police recently arrested a school teacher for allegedly removing the uniform of a Class 1 girl student. The alleged incident took place on Thursday, however, the incident came to light after a video of the incident went viral on social media. According to reports, the teacher has been booked under sections of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

The teacher, who works at a government-run primary school in Thangpui village, Lunglei district was arrested on Saturday. As per reports, the teacher removed the uniform of the Class I girl student after her mother threatened to take the teacher out of the school. The mother alleged that her daughter was being treated differently by a so-called "bully". Speaking to the Times of India, SP Rex Vanchhawng said that school teacher Lalbiakengi was recruited under the Central government's Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. The teacher was arrested after the district child welfare committee lodged an FIR. In her complaint, the mother also claimed that a boy physically assaulted her daughter in school. The incident took place on August 22. "She was seriously injured and needed urgent medical treatment. However, as she was so eager to go back to school, we sent her there three days later on Thursday (August 25) only to be beaten up again by the same boy," the mother said.

The mother further said that the incident made her angry. On Friday, the mother went to the school and scolded the boy who had beaten her daughter. Post this, the woman received a call from the teacher who told the girl's mother that she broke rules by pulling up the boy. Following this, the mother threatened to take her child out of the school, which is when the teacher asked her to leave the uniform behind as there was a student who needed the uniform. "She undressed my daughter in front of the entire class and let her go with only her underwear on," the mother said.
