Motihari Recruitment Exam: Candidate Arrested for Cheating With Electronic Device Hidden in Slippe
A cheating attempt using a concealed electronic device was uncovered during the Adhinayak Anudeshak (Commandant Instructor) recruitment examination conducted by the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission in Motihari on Wednesday.
Patna, July 29: A cheating attempt using a concealed electronic device was uncovered during the Adhinayak Anudeshak (Commandant Instructor) recruitment examination conducted by the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission in Motihari on Wednesday. A candidate was caught allegedly using an electronic gadget hidden inside his slipper to receive answers from outside the examination hall. Police have arrested the accused and detained two others for questioning.
The arrested candidate is identified as Avinash Kumar, a resident of Bettiah in West Champaran district. The recruitment examination is conducted at 12 centres across East Champaran district under tight security arrangements to prevent malpractice. The incident came to light during an inspection by Sadar Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Arun Kumar and Sadar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dilip Kumar, who are visiting various examination centres. While inspecting the examination hall at LND College, the officials noticed the suspicious behaviour of one candidate and ordered a thorough search. During the search, officials recovered an electronic device concealed inside the candidate’s slipper. According to police, the gadget is allegedly designed to receive answers from external sources during the examination. Avinash Kumar is immediately taken into custody. East Champaran Superintendent of Police Swarna Prabhat says that during interrogation, the accused revealed he had learned about the cheating technique by watching videos on YouTube.
He allegedly purchased the electronic device online and planned to use it in the recruitment examination. Police further say the accused had devised a method to bypass security checks and even evade electronic jammers installed at the examination centre. According to investigators, before entering the examination premises, Avinash allegedly threw the slipper containing the hidden device over the boundary wall and entered the centre barefoot so the gadget would not be detected during frisking.
After completing the security check, he reportedly retrieved the slipper from inside the campus and wore it before entering the examination hall. His plan, however, is foiled when officials notice his suspicious movements during the inspection and recover the device. Following his arrest, police detain two other individuals based on information provided by the accused. Investigators are now trying to identify other members of the network and ascertain how the electronic device was procured, who was responsible for transmitting answers from outside the examination centre, and whether similar methods were used by other candidates. Further investigation is underway.
