Residents noted that a similar incident had occurred previously on the same stretch, but no preventative action was taken by municipal officials. The fatal accident comes amid severe weather conditions in the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast predicting heavy showers and thunderstorms for Mumbai and its surrounding suburbs.
