Mumbai, November 6: A fire broke out in Durian Estate of Goregaon East in Mumbai on Tuesday. The blaze erupted late in the night, with locals posting an alert on social media and appealing the fire brigade to rush aid. As per the preliminary information available, the building was empty when it caught flames.

The video posted by locals on social media shows two floors of Durian Estate going up in flames. The fire appeared of moderate-to-high intensity. The fire brigade officials were expected to rush to the site when the clip was uploaded. Level 2 Fire Breaks Out in Andheri's Navpada.

Earlier in the evening, a fire broke out Navpada area of Andheri. A level-2 blaze erupted at Bamboo Goddown. No casualties were reported in the incident. As per the latest update issued by news agency ANI, the fire has been brought under control.

Fire incidents in Mumbai, claim experts, have increased due to congestion, excessive land pressure, high density of population and unplanned construction. As per the data maintained by the Mumbai Fire Brigade, a total of 4,592 entities, including commercial and residential, have been red-flagged for flouting the safety norms.
