Mumbai, May 6: A shocking incident of murder has come to light from Mumbai, where a man allegedly killed his wife after a heated argument. The alleged murder occurred on Saturday night, May 4, when a heated argument took place between accused Ajay (38) and his wife Anjali Vardam (36) over dinner. Police officials said that the couple are residents of Shimla Nagar slum in Malabar Hill.

According to a report in the Hindustan Times, Ajay stabbed his wife Anjali in her chest after their fight. The couple live with their two sons in South Mumbai's Malabar Hill area. The incident came to light when the couple's 16-year-old son alerted their relatives who stay close by. The shocking stabbing incident took place on Saturday night when the couple and their two sons were having dinner. Police officials said the fight was triggered by Ajay's suspicion of his wife’s character. The couple had also fought over his alleged suspicion. Amid their fight, the accused, who was annoyed, picked up a knife and stabbed his wife in the chest.

Mother-In-Law Cleans Bloodstains, Destroys Evidence

The sons who witnessed the incident fled from the house. After this, the accused and his mother allegedly cleaned the bloodstains and even changed Anjali's clothes. Amid all this, the couple's elder son alerted his relatives, who rushed Anjali to the hospital, where she was declared dead. The cops also arrested Ajay's mother, Asha alias Saraswati Shashikant Vardam (62), for destroying evidence. Meanwhile, the police have launched a probe to nab the accused, who has been at large since the murder took place.
