Mumbai Water Cut on August 11: BMC Announces 24-Hour Shutdown, Check List of Affected Areas

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a 24-hour water supply disruption in parts of Mumbai from 10 am on Tuesday, August 11, to 10 am on Wednesday, August 12, due to maintenance work on the city’s water distribution network. The civic body said the partial shutdown of the 2,400-mm-diameter Vaitarna water pipeline will affect water supply in H East and K South wards.
While the entire H East Ward will face a complete water supply shutdown during the maintenance period, several areas in K South Ward will receive water at low pressure during specified time slots. The BMC has advised residents to store adequate water in advance and use it carefully during the disruption. Why Mumbai Water Supply Will Be Affected
According to the BMC, the pipeline shutdown is part of ongoing work to strengthen Mumbai’s water supply infrastructure.
The maintenance activity will begin at 10 am on August 11 and continue until 10 am on August 12. Check List of Areas Affected by Mumbai Water Cut
The entire H East Ward will have no water supply during the shutdown period.
The affected areas include:
- Santacruz East
- Khar East
- Bandra East
- Domestic Airport area
- Hangar Staff Colony
- Air India Colony
- Bandra Terminus
- Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC)
Residents and establishments in these areas have been advised to make necessary arrangements before the maintenance work begins.
Several areas in K South Ward will receive water at reduced pressure on August 11 and August 12.
On August 11 between 2 pm and 5.30 pm, low-pressure water supply will affect:
- Kabir Nagar
- Bamanwada
- Parsiwada
- Airport area
- Tarun Bharat Colony
- Islampura
- Deulwadi
- Fish Market
- Ghativada
- Chakala
- P&T Colony
Between 5 pm and 10 pm on August 11, low-pressure supply will be experienced in:
- Koldongri
- Old Police Lane
- Vijay Nagar on Sahar Road
- Mograpada
On August 12 between 5 am and 8 am, the affected areas include:
- Sahar Village
- Sutar Pakhadi
- Cargo Complex
BMC Advises Residents to Store Water
The civic body has requested residents in affected areas to store sufficient water before the shutdown begins and use supplies judiciously during the disruption.
The BMC has also advised citizens to boil and filter drinking water for the next few days after supply resumes as a precautionary measure. Residents have been asked to cooperate with the municipal administration while the maintenance work is underway.
Mumbai Reservoir Levels at Nearly 89%
The water disruption announcement comes as Mumbai’s seven lakes continue to maintain healthy storage levels.
According to data from the Hydraulic Engineer’s Department at the Bhandup Master Control Centre, the city’s reservoirs collectively held 12,84,608 million litres, or 88.76% of their live storage capacity, as of 6 am on August 6.
The current storage level is slightly lower compared with the same period last year, when the reservoirs held 12,91,577 million litres (89.27%). It is also below the 13,03,580 million litres (90.07%) recorded during the corresponding period in 2024.
