The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the food license of Mumbai’s historic K. Rustom ice cream parlour following an inspection that revealed severe health and hygiene violations. Officials ordered the immediate closure of the popular South Mumbai establishment after discovering live rodents, houseflies, and expired ingredients on the premises.

The enforcement action was taken against the outlet located at Brabourne Stadium House on Veer Nariman Road in Churchgate. According to an official FDA press release, the establishment failed to meet the strict sanitation requirements mandated under Schedule 4 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
