A 21-year-old woman and her parents were found dead in Karnataka's Mysuru district days before her scheduled wedding, in a case that police are investigating as an alleged suicide linked to harassment and the circulation of private photographs.

The deceased have been identified as Rakshita, her mother Nagaratna, 44, and father Shivanna, 54. Police said the incident occurred in Kempainahundi village and that a case of abetment of suicide has been registered against a man identified as Ullas Gowda, who is currently absconding.

According to police, Rakshita was engaged and was scheduled to marry on June 24.

Investigators said Ullas Gowda had previously proposed to Rakshita, but his proposal was rejected by her and her family. Despite the rejection, police allege that he continued to contact and harass both Rakshita and her parents. Officials said tensions escalated in the days leading up to the wedding.

Police told PTI that on the night of June 21, Rakshita's parents called Gowda and his parents to their home and warned him over his alleged conduct. During the meeting, some private photographs and messages related to Rakshita were reportedly deleted from Gowda's phone. However, investigators allege that he had retained additional photographs.

According to police, Gowda later allegedly sent some of those images to Rakshita's fiancé after returning home. Police said the photographs triggered a confrontation involving the groom and his family, who subsequently visited Rakshita's home.

Authorities have not disclosed further details about the interaction but said the situation escalated shortly afterward. Investigators are examining the sequence of events and statements from those involved to establish the circumstances leading up to the deaths.

Suicide Note Recovered, Police Say

Police said a note was recovered from the house in which the family allegedly blamed Ullas Gowda for their deaths. Based on the preliminary findings, a case of abetment of suicide has been registered against him. Officials said Gowda has been on the run since the incident and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend him.

Police are continuing to investigate the allegations, including claims of harassment and the circulation of private photographs. Authorities have urged the public to avoid speculation while the investigation is ongoing. Further details are expected to emerge as investigators gather evidence and record witness statements.
