Actor Sunny Deol reportedly disagreed with producer Aamir Khan over a major business decision regarding their recent collaborative project, Batwara 1947. According to reports, Deol was unhappy after Khan turned down an exclusive pre-release digital streaming deal worth over INR 60 crore for the period drama. ‘Batwara 1947’ FIRST Review: Ramesh Taurani Calls Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta’s Partition Drama a ‘Deeply Moving’ Must-Watch Film (View Post).

Sunny Didn't Agree to Aamir Khan's Decision of Turning Down OTT Deal for ‘Batwara 1947’

The conflict stems from an initial offer made by a major OTT platform when the film was still titled Lahore 1947. Details from a Filmfare report reveal that Sunny Deol had a 50 per cent profit-sharing arrangement on the project. Consequently, accepting the upfront INR 60 crore deal would have secured a substantial payout and guaranteed financial recovery for the actor ahead of its release.

However, Aamir Khan, who produced the film under Aamir Khan Productions, opted against accepting the offer to explore alternative post-theatrical streaming strategies. Following a sluggish performance at the box office after its August 14 release, industry reports indicate the digital valuation for the film has now dropped significantly to around INR 30 crore. Despite the behind-the-scenes disagreement over the business model, both stars maintained a professional front and actively promoted the film together.
