Nagpur Man Murdered by Wife and Friend; Death Staged as Roadside Accident

Police in Nagpur have uncovered a murder plot after the death of a 33-year-old man, initially believed to be a road accident, was revealed to be a homicide involving his wife and close friend. The victim, identified as Sudhir Mahendraprasad Dwivedi, a resident of Gajanan Nagar, was found dead on a roadside on the morning of August 10. Officials at the MIDC police station initially registered a case of accidental death. However, suspicion arose following a post-mortem examination, which confirmed that Dwivedi had died an unnatural death.

Subsequent investigations revealed that Dwivedi’s wife, Pooja, was allegedly having an extramarital affair with his friend, Ashishkumar Nareshkumar Agnihotri. Both Dwivedi and Agnihotri were employed in private firms and shared a friendship that allowed Agnihotri frequent visits to the victim's home. While Dwivedi suspected his wife of infidelity, he reportedly had no idea that his friend was involved. According to the police, the accused allegedly planned the murder on the night of August 9. Agnihotri got Dwivedi intoxicated before striking him on the head with an iron rod and strangling him using a dupatta. The duo then dumped the body along the roadside and left an empty liquor bottle nearby to stage the scene as a drunk-driving accident. Following the forensic revelations, the MIDC police registered a murder case against both Pooja and Ashishkumar. Police have arrested Agnihotri, and further investigation into the case is underway.
