Navi Mumbai, December 26: A Deputy Inspector General (DIG) rank officer was booked on Thursday for allegedly molesting and stalking a minor girl from Taloja. A First Information Report was registered against Nishikant More days after the girl's family along with others protested demanding an FIR be registered against the senior cop. According to the minor's family, they became friends with DIG More a few years ago. In June, the officer and his wife came to attend the birthday celebration of the girl. During the party, according to the family, the DIG touched her cheeks and chest. More's alleged misconduct was also caught in a camera. The family further alleged that on December 21 the minor saw the DIG and a few cops waiting at Kharghar where she goes for classes. "One cop fled as we reached the spot. But even in this matter, the police did not file any FIR," the father was quoted as saying. On December 23, several members of the Punjabi community along with the girl's family held a protest demanding that an FIR be registered against the DIG.

Zonal DCP Ashok Dudhe said that he is looking into the matter and has watched the video submitted by the girl's father. On stalking accusation, Dudhe said that the DIG was in Kharghar as his wife was visiting a hospital in the area.
