Lucknow, March 26: A video showing alleged indecent behavior with a statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly has triggered widespread outrage among residents. The incident reportedly took place at Gandhi Bagh (Company Garden) during Eid celebrations, when a large crowd had gathered in the area. The incident occurred in the Civil Lines area under the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station, specifically near Rampur Garden. Eyewitnesses reported that several youths, along with some minors, were involved in the act. In the viral video, individuals can be seen touching and pulling parts of the statue while recording content. A security guard at the park, identified as Indrajeet, said that the large Eid gathering made it difficult to manage the situation, though he attempted to remove some of the youths from the site.

Following the circulation of the video, local police initiated an inquiry. Officers reached the spot and began collecting information.
