New Delhi, December 4: Minutes after the Supreme Court on Wednesday granted bail to Congress leader P Chidambaram in INX Media Case, his son Karti Chidambaram welcomed the Court's decision and posted a relieving tweet. "Phew. At last after 106 days," Karti tweeted, with a smiley at the end. Meanwhile, the Congress also took to micro-blogging site Twitter to express happiness over the top Court's order by saying, "Truth finally prevails".

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court granted bail to Congress leader P Chidambaram in a money laundering case related to INX Media. The Court directed that the former Finance Minister cannot leave the country without its prior permission of the court and should not even speak to the media. A three-judge bench, headed by Justice R Banumathi, granted the relief to the 74-year-old Congress leader. The Court directed Chidambaram to furnish a bail bond of Rs 2 lakhs along with 2 sureties of the same amount. SC also says Chidambaram can not travel abroad without the Court's permission.

Take a Look at the tweets:

According to a tweet by ANI, Sandeep Goel, DG Tihar Prison said that they will take the SC order to lower court & submit the sureties & bail bonds there, then the order to release him from jail will be issued. Goel said that Chidambaram will be released once they get the release order.

The top Court set aside the Delhi High Court November 15 verdict denying the former Union finance minister bail. In its order, the Court said that  Chidambaram, who has been in custody for 105 days, should neither try to influence witnesses nor tamper with evidence.

Chidambaram was first arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on August 21 in connection with the INX Media case. However, he was granted bail by the Supreme Court two months later. The senior Congress leader was arrested by the ED in the money laundering case on October 16.
