Pune, December 23: In a shocking incident, a 40-year-old woman in Pune was murdered by her husband on Monday after a brawl over her long working hours. Reports inform that the woman worked as a domestic help in Pimpri Chinchwad area of Pune. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the woman had a fight with her husband after which he killed her in a fit of rage. The Pimpri Chinchwad Police have arrested her husband (58) in connection with the crime. A case under Section 302 or murder of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against Hanumant at the Sangvi police station.

The accused, identified as Hanumant Baburao Lokhande, told the police that his wife left the house at around 7-8 am in the morning everyday and came home after 12 hours. After a probe, Police found out that Lokhande worked as a labourer in a nearby rubber factory. The report adds that the man attacked his wife with a sickle as the fight turned violent. Shaila, the victim, was Hanumant’s third wife. They had been married for 20 years. During interrogation, the man confessed to his crime. As soon as the incident was reported, police rushed to the spot to take a stock of the situation. Senior police inspector Dnyaneshwar Sable of Sangvi police station was quoted in the HT report saying that the couple's son, who lives in a room above their house, heard their argument and rushed down immediately. He couldn't enter the room as it was locked from inside.

After the fight got intense, the boy broke the glass window of the house and saw his father repeatedly attacking his mother. According to Police, Hanumant opened the door only after his wife was dead, following which his son alerted the Police about the incident.
