A 19-year-old man in Rajasthan’s Pali district was arrested for allegedly carrying out a series of thefts in neighbouring houses after he struggled to pay instalments on an iPhone he had gifted to his wife, police said. Police said the accused allegedly targeted houses in his neighbourhood and stole gold and silver jewellery, along with cash, over multiple incidents. The thefts were reported in different areas of Pali, prompting a local investigation. During questioning, the teenager reportedly confessed that he had turned to theft mainly to arrange money for the iPhone instalments and meet other expenses.
