Asking Congress president Rahul Gandhi to marry Sapna, he said she belongs to the "same profession" as the Gandhi scion's mother.

"Rahul's mother was also in the same profession in Italy and how his father made her his own, he should also take the family tradition forward and make Sapna his own," Singh was reported as saying.

On Saturday, reports said Sapna has officially joined the Congress in presence of party leaders in Delhi. Citing sources, it was claimed that she could be fielded from Mathura constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019, where the Jat voters form a crucial electoral base.
