The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Sunday, October 11, mounted a scathing attack on the administration over extensive security restrictions and transport closures in the national capital, alleging that the prevailing situation resembles an "open Emergency". Addressing a joint press conference in New Delhi, CJP activists Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka accused authorities of causing severe public disruption in an attempt to suppress a "youth-led movement".

CJP Compares Security Deployment to 1975 Emergency

Hitting out at the heavy police presence, CJP activist Saurav Das drew parallels with the 1975 Emergency and stated that the city had been turned into a "cantonment". "The situation across the country right now mirrors an open Emergency. Such repressive conditions have not been witnessed since the dictatorial regime of 1975," Das said. Dhruv Rathee Says ‘I Was Kidnapped, Not Detained’, Slams Police After Release (Video).

Modi, As PM, Is an Embarrassment to India, Says Abhijeet Dipke

CJP activists slammed the Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the ongoing detentions and security measures following their demonstrations targeting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral roll irregularities. In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), CJP activist Abhijeet Dipke stated: "Modi, as PM, is an embarrassment to India. Never has this country seen a bigger coward and bully."

Gyanesh Kumar Is a Traitor

Expressing firm resolve despite law enforcement action, Ashutosh Ranka posted on X: "Gyanesh Kumar is a traitor. He will have to resign. I am even willing to spend my entire life in jail to get such traitors removed."

Heavy Security Deployment Across National Capital

The political rhetoric follows several days of heightened security measures across Delhi. In anticipation of demonstrations, the Ministry of Home Affairs reinforced local law enforcement with additional companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), deploying an estimated 23,000 to 35,000 security personnel across key transit points, border zones, and prominent venues including Jantar Mantar. The restrictions included multi-layer barricading, vehicle inspections at border entries, regulation of metro station gates, and train adjustments, causing noticeable disruption to daily commuters and local business activities in central Delhi. CJP Protest: Supreme Court Orders No Illegal Detention of Peaceful Protesters, Directs Normal Metro Services.

Police and Judicial Mandate

While opposition activists condemn the clampdown as an infringement on constitutional assembly, police authorities maintain that the security deployment is necessary to maintain public order and prevent unpermitted gatherings near high-security zones. Meanwhile, judicial intervention by the Supreme Court directed authorities to ensure there is no complete prohibition of movement on public transit systems, instructing that metro and rail services operate in a regulated manner to minimise public inconvenience. Law enforcement agencies continue to monitor the situation closely as legal proceedings and detentions remain ongoing.
