New Delhi, January 20: After VK Sasikala was given a 4-year jail term for corruption case on 14th February 2017, RTI activist Narasimha Murthy on Sunday stated that the jail rules have been violated as the jail authorities allotted five rooms to Sasikala when she was entitled to just one. "In other 4 rooms, the female convicts were staying upto 14 Feb'17. Once Sasikala reached, they were sent out&all 5 were given to her", he added. The RTI activist further added saying there's no provision for cooking food in prison but jail authorities deputed one convict to cook for Sasikala. Murthy alleged that in Sasikala's case, the system and all the rules and regulations were ignored. Adding further, he said people used to come in groups to visit Sasikala and go to her room directly and stay for 3-4 hrs. On 14th February 2017, Sasikala was found guilty of corruption by the Supreme Court and was sentenced to four years in prison. She was barred from contesting an election for the next ten years. Sasikala, who was the close confidante of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, returned to Amma's good books after publicly distancing herself from Natarajan and his family.  Reports inform that Sasikala had spent three weeks in the same prison in 2014 along with Jayalalithaa, after both were held guilty of making a fortune beyond their known sources of income in the 1990s.
