According to the Lokayukta, Singh allegedly demanded INR 8 lakh from businessman Syed Zameer in connection with pending Central GST dues and to close what the complainant claimed was a false complaint filed against him.
INR 8 Lakh Bribe Allegedly Demanded
After receiving the complaint, Bengaluru City Lokayukta officials laid a trap to catch the GST officer. Singh was allegedly caught accepting the money through a mediator during the operation. Officials said the alleged bribe was accepted inside Singh's chamber at Kendriya Sadan in Koramangala, where the trap operation was conducted.
Case Registered Under Prevention Of Corruption Act
A case has been registered under Section 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018.
The Lokayukta said further investigation into the alleged bribery case is underway. The allegations are subject to investigation and legal proceedings.
