Prem Singh Tamang-Golay Says Government Monitoring Rimbi

In a Facebook post, Tamang-Golay said he was “deeply saddened and concerned” by the situation following the severe landslides in Rimbi. “The situation remains serious, and the safety and well-being of the people continue to be our foremost priority,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the government stood firmly with the people of Rimbi and that necessary directions had been issued to the concerned authorities. He said officials had been asked to remain on high alert, closely monitor the situation and take every possible measure to ensure the safety and security of the public.

Tamang-Golay also acknowledged the distress and uncertainty faced by residents, particularly as difficulties in the area have persisted for some time. “My thoughts and prayers are with every family affected,” he said, urging people to remain vigilant during the torrential rain, follow official advisories and extend support to one another.

Landslide activity has also affected road connectivity in the region. On September 2, a major landslide at Rimbi damaged the Geyzing-Pelling-Yuksom route, also known as State Highway-27, after debris and water from Siksa Khola reached the road. Another mudslide was reported in Rimbi on September 13, blocking the road to Khechuperi and putting two nearby houses at risk amid heavy rainfall. The latest landslide has renewed concerns over the vulnerability of roads, homes and other infrastructure in the area as heavy rain continues.
