Action Against Stall Operator
Vineet Abhishek said the stall was cleaned after the incident came to the railway administration's attention. The Railway Commercial Department has also initiated action against the operator. The railway administration is considering permanent termination of the stall's contract rather than limiting the response to a financial penalty. An order has also been issued to re-examine food safety standards at other stalls operating at the station.
The incident occurred only days after Western Railway announced a special deep-cleaning and sanitisation drive at food stalls at Surat and Udhna railway stations. The drive was part of an ongoing catering campaign aimed at improving cleanliness and hygiene at railway food outlets.
