South Korea Tourist Suffers Hand Injury In Monkey Attack

According to officials, the monkey attacked the tourist outside the Taj Mahal's Eastern Gate, leaving her with a deep injury to her hand and causing heavy bleeding. A viral video from the scene shows the woman clutching her bleeding hand while being assisted by local residents towards a nearby dispensary for medical treatment.

ASI Flags Ambulance Delay

Taj Mahal Senior Conservation Assistant Qalandar said the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) team reached the spot immediately after being informed about the attack.

He said the health department was alerted without delay and an ambulance was called. However, the ambulance driver failed to reach the location for nearly an hour.

According to Qalandar, the delay has been treated as a serious lapse. A report has been prepared against the ambulance driver and forwarded to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for appropriate action.

Growing Monkey Menace At Taj Mahal

The incident has also renewed attention on the increasing presence of monkeys inside and around the Taj Mahal complex.

Another viral video circulating online shows several monkeys playing in the Central Tank within the monument premises, highlighting the growing wildlife presence at one of India's most visited tourist attractions.

Qalandar said the ASI had written to the Agra Municipal Corporation about a month ago regarding the rising number of monkeys and stray dogs near the monument.

According to him, the ASI requested that the animals be captured and relocated, but no effective action has been taken so far.
