Tiruvallur, October 3: A special public prosecutor in Tamil Nadu has been accused of threatening child sex abuse victims and their families to take back the case against the accused. According to The News Minute, at least two families have accused Dhanalakshmi ML, a government lawyer, for allegedly siding the accused and also putting the victim and alleged rapist in the same room. The families, who belong from Tiruvallur district, have reached to police with complaints. According to the report, the family of a victim, who was sexually assaulted in 2015, approached cops on Monday. On Tuesday, a 20-year-old victim who was raped as a minor also approached the police with a complaint against Dhanalakshmi.

According to the 20-year-old complainant, she was raped by a neighbour in 2015. In 2017, after the first hearing of the case, special public prosecutor Dhanalakshmi called the victim to a room and also brought the accused. She was forced to sit with the rapist and have a conversation, she said.

"The Public Prosecutor then told me that I either have to marry Gopinath, or take his money and drop the case. She threatened that if I didn’t agree, I will not win this case and that she won't let another lawyer fight it either," she said, The News Minute reported.

Another complainant said that the rapist of their child with learning disabilities and speech impairment has been acquitted in the case due to Dhanalakshmi 's interference. The complainant said that the special public prosecutor forced them to take money from the accused.
