A high school head football coach in Simi Valley, California, has been dismissed from his position after surveillance footage captured him kicking a football that struck a student-athlete in the private parts during a team practice. The Simi Valley Unified School District reviewed the campus security footage and subsequently terminated Adam Brubaker as the head football coach at Royal High School. The decision was finalised just hours before the team was scheduled to open its season on Friday, August 21.

Incident Captured on Video

The altercation unfolded during a practice session when Brubaker grew visibly frustrated with a player. Video footage shows the coach approaching the student-athlete before kicking a nearby football in anger, reports ABC7. The ball struck the player in the private parts, sending him immediately to the ground in pain. Footage from the scene also shows several adults rushing toward the area to confront the coach while the injured student received medical attention. Florida Teacher Heather Mashburn-Smith Shows Cops Where She Had S*x With 17-Year-Old Student in Classroom, Bodycam Video Goes Viral.

Coach Expresses Remorse and Explains Frustration

In interviews following the incident, Brubaker acknowledged the severity of the situation and expressed profound regret for his actions. "I kicked the ball and it hit him in the groin area and instantly I felt like I was going to pass out," Brubaker told Eyewitness News, adding, "I feel obviously a great deal of remorse for what happened. It's a one in a million shot." Brubaker maintained that the act was accidental and that he never intended to strike the player.

He explained that his anger stemmed from a drill where a player aggressively brought down a running back, violating team rules established to prevent injuries. "He's a great kid, but he's intense. We've had at least a dozen conversations about not taking kids to the ground during team drills," Brubaker said. He noted that he later approached the student after practice to apologise and that the player accepted his apology. Indian National Jay Sunilbharthi Goswami Arrested Over USD 7.5 Million Elder Fraud Scheme in US.

District Action and Leadership Changes

Despite Brubaker's explanation and apology, school and district administrators moved swiftly to address the conduct. Following his dismissal, Brubaker's image and title were removed from the Royal High School football staff directory, leaving the varsity head coach position listed as vacant. Principal Reina Zapata announced that an interim head coach would be appointed promptly to minimise disruption for the student-athletes as the Highlanders prepare to navigate the remainder of the season.
