Three people, including a 26-year-old woman, have been arrested in Telangana's Jayashankar Bhupalpally district for allegedly killing her 32-year-old husband by making him consume liquor mixed with pesticide, police said. Investigators said the accused later allegedly attempted to make the death appear to be a suicide, according to a report.

The deceased was identified as Pendela Sampath, a plumber and native of Golapalli village who was living in Buddharam village. His body was found near the Zilla Parishad High School in Buddharam on the night of September 17. Telangana Man Kills Wife, 2 Children, Then Murders Teen Girl Who Accused Him of S*xual Harassment.

Three Accused Arrested

Police identified the arrested accused as Ummalla Srikanth, 36, Pendela Sumalatha, 26, Sampath's wife, and Poludasari Tarun, 23. All three are residents of Buddharam village. Police initially registered a suspicious-death case on September 18. Following the investigation, the case was altered under Sections 61(2), 103 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police Allege Murder Conspiracy

According to investigators, Sampath suspected an alleged relationship between Sumalatha and Srikanth and had warned Srikanth several times. Police allege that Srikanth and Sumalatha subsequently planned Sampath's killing and brought Tarun into the alleged conspiracy by promising him Rs 1 lakh. Telangana School Principal Murder: Class 10 Students Stab K Roopa Reddy 27 Times Over Cash in Nalgonda; Detained.

On September 17, Srikanth and Tarun allegedly took Sampath to the premises of the ZPHS school and made him consume liquor mixed with pesticide. Police said the substance resulted in his death.

Attempt to Stage Death as Suicide

Investigators allege that after Sampath's death, the accused transported his body to his house on Srikanth's Pulsar motorcycle.

Police further alleged that pesticide was poured into Sampath's mouth, on his clothes and on the floor of the house in an attempt to create the impression that he had consumed the pesticide himself.

Investigators examined the alleged crime scenes, collected photographs and videos, questioned witnesses and conducted panchanamas. A post-mortem examination was also carried out as part of the investigation.

Evidence Seized, Accused Remanded

Police said they seized the motorcycle allegedly used to transport the body, mobile phones belonging to the three accused, Rs 500 from Tarun, a liquor bottle allegedly containing pesticide and a pesticide bottle recovered from the scene.

All three accused were produced before a court, which remanded them to 14 days of judicial custody, police said. The investigation remains underway as authorities work to establish the complete sequence of events and gather further evidence. The allegations against the accused will be subject to the ongoing legal proceedings.
