Thane, May 24: The Dombivali police recently lodged a complaint against a fitness instructor for allegedly robbing a woman's jewellery in the city. The incident came to light after the woman approached the police and alleged that the fitness instructor robbed her jewellery worth Rs 4.49 lakh from her home. In her complaint, the woman claimed that the accused, Pranav, sedated her before stealing her jewellery.

Man Befriends Woman Through Instagram

According to a report in the Hindustan Times, the so-called fitness instructor befriended the complainant, Manisha Haldankar, via Instagram after the Jai Hind Colony resident showed interest in joining a fitness programme. Haldankar told cops that the accused had been constantly in touch with her for the last few days. Finally, when Haldankar agreed to sign up, the accused refused to conduct the programme online. She claimed that Pranav insisted on meeting her in person to teach her the exercises properly. He also said that the exercises would help her improve her fitness sooner.

Woman Falls Unconcious

On May 20, the woman called Pranav for a session in the evening. The complainant said that Pranav was unpacking his bag and talking to her when she lost consciousness. She also told cops that the last thing she remembers was smelling something odd when the accused unpacked his bag. She immediately approached the police and lodged a complaint. Meanwhile, cops said Pranav’s Instagram profile had been deleted since the incident. They are now scanning the CCTV footage to try to identify the accused.
