Police in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly have launched an investigation into the death of a 35-year-old man whose family alleges he was forcibly made to drink acid following a domestic dispute involving his wife and her alleged partner.

Police in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly have launched an investigation into the death of a 35-year-old man whose family alleges he was forcibly made to drink acid following a domestic dispute involving his wife and her alleged partner. The victim, identified as Ismail, a resident of Chak Mahmood in the Baradari police area, died during treatment at a private hospital on Saturday night.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s brother, Tajim, police have named four individuals in connection with the case: Ismail’s wife Gausiya, her alleged partner Salim, and two associates, Ansar and Iqrar.
Forced Ingestion Alleged
According to the police complaint, the fatal incident occurred on Thursday night. Tajim alleged that Gausiya, Salim, Ansar, and Iqrar physically restrained Ismail and forced him to drink acid. The accused then allegedly abandoned the victim at a private hospital before fleeing the scene. Ismail remained under medical care until succumbing to his injuries on Saturday evening.

Background of Domestic Conflict
Ismail and Gausiya had been residing in a rented house in the Kankar Tola locality. According to family accounts, tension escalated after Ismail objected to Gausiya’s close relationship with their landlord, Salim. Mathura Murder: Wife Accused of Sedating, Killing Husband With Daughter’s Boyfriend.
The family stated that on July 27, Ismail discovered his wife and Salim together, prompting him to move his family out of the rental unit. Despite the relocation, disputes reportedly continued as Gausiya allegedly remained in contact with Salim.
Police Reviewing Evidence
Authorities stated that the allegations are currently being verified through forensic evidence and surrounding surveillance.
"The allegations are being investigated, and further action will be taken on the basis of evidence," said Inspector Vijendra Singh of the Baradari police station.
Police are analyzing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas and the hospital where Ismail was dropped off. No formal arrests have been announced as the investigation remains ongoing.
