Ghaziabad, November 18: In a shocking incident of sexual assault, an eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her stepfather on Friday in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad. During the time of the incident, the rape survivor’s mother and brother were sleeping in another room at their home. On Saturday, the minor narrated the entire incident to her mother, who took her to Vijaya Nagar police station to lodge a complaint against the 35-year accused. According to a report published in The Times of India, when even after two hours the PCR van did not arrive, the girl’s mother approached area’s councillor Haji Asif. The councillor accompanied the woman and her daughter to the police station. The police registered an FIR under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (rape) and under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. A medical of the girl was also done. The accused who work a daily wager belongs to Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh. After committing the crime, the girl’s stepfather is absconding.

According to the report, though the complaint was written, a scuffle broke out between the councillor and sub-inspector at the police station. The councillor alleged that the sub-inspector pointed service revolver at him. Asif lodged a separate complaint in this regard.

In a similar incident in September, a six-year-old tribal girl was allegedly raped by three boys, including her cousin, in Madhya Pradesh's Indore district, police said Thursday. All the three accused were detained. Two accused, aged 15, were Class 8 students. The third boy was a Class 7 student and is 12 years old.
