Lucknow, February 6: A 62-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death by her son in Uttar Pradesh’s Jewar on Wednesday, February 4 following a domestic dispute over a delay in serving food. The accused, who has a documented history of mental health issues, had reportedly returned to the village just days prior after undergoing treatment at a psychiatric facility.

The victim, identified as Rukmini Devi, was in the kitchen preparing a meal when her son, Kishan, became violent. Local residents who heard the commotion rushed to the house and managed to restrain Kishan before he could flee or cause further harm. "The accused appears to be mentally unstable, and we are reviewing his medical records from the psychiatric facility," a senior police official stated. "A thorough investigation is underway to determine if there were other aggravating factors or if this was a spontaneous act of violence linked to his condition."
