The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Agra launched an investigation on Wednesday, August 5, after discovering human remains inside a suitcase recovered from a general coach of the Tamil Nadu Express at the Agra Cantt railway station. Authorities were first alerted to the suspicious luggage early in the morning, leading to a joint response by railway security forces and local law enforcement.
Initial Discovery at Agra Cantt Railway Station and Alert
Railway authorities in Gwalior contacted the Government Railway Police (GRP) at approximately 5:00 AM, reports PTI. Officials reported that a suitcase positioned near the rear end of a general coach was leaking a substance resembling blood and emitting a strong, foul odour. Upon the train's arrival at Agra Cantt station, personnel from both the GRP and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) intercepted the train and removed the luggage for inspection. "When the suitcase was opened, some human body parts were found inside," said GRP Circle Officer Rajesh Dixit. The recovered remains have since been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause and time of death.
Ongoing Investigation and Surveillance Review
Investigators found that the body parts inside the suitcase were wrapped in paper bearing a Chennai logo. Following this lead, police have dispatched a dedicated investigation team to Chennai to trace the origin of the packaging and identify potential suspects.
