Shahjahanpur, January 21: Congress’ student wing National Students Union of India on Monday suspended its Shahjahanpur district president Irfan Hussain for threatening a student on camera, after the student complained of harassment in an Uttar Pradesh college.

In the video, which went viral, Hussain was seen threatening a girl student and asked her to behave. Also, backed by other student leaders, Hussain even threatened her that she would have to stay in the college for three more years and she should ‘stay in her limit’. He can be seen telling the girl, “You are just in the first year now, you have to stay here for three more years, sudhar jao (better behave). I will make it very difficult for you to enter the college.” Adding more, he said, “Ladki agar daayre mein hai to hi acchi lagti hai" (A woman looks good when she stays within limits).”

When the whole action was taking place, college authorities didn’t intervene. Following this, the video was post inline and taking cognizance of the incident the NSUI suspended Hussain. He is absconding after a case was registered against his name. Police is investigating the matter.
