Lucknow, November 13: Thick toxic haze engulfed several parts of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, with the air quality index (AQI) dipping to over 450 in the "Severe" category in many areas. According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), Noida woke up to a hazy sky as the air quality further deteriorated on Wednesday. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Sector 125 was recorded at 466, Sector 62 at 469, Sector 1 at 481 and Sector 116 at 473 - all in 'Severe' category.

According to a tweet by ANI, a layer of smog had covered the sky in Ghaziabad on Wednesday morning, worsening the air quality in the region. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Indirapuram area was recorded at 465, Loni at 475, Sanjay Nagar at 469 and Vasundhara at 479 - which were all in 'Severe' category. In Greater Noida, the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 458 (severe) in Knowledge Park-III area, while  it was at 472 (severe) in Sector-62 area of Noida during the early hours on Wednesday. Punjab: Stubble Burning Count Crosses 48,000 Mark.

Moreover, the overall air quality of Delhi and NCR region entered the 'Severe' category again on Wednesday. As per details by SAFAR, the overall air quality of the national capital docked at 467 during the early hours on Wednesday.  According to a report by ANI, SAFAR said that no sudden recovery is expected under this condition at least for the next two days and AQI is likely to deteriorate further towards 'Severe+' category by Thursday'.
