The two individuals were discovered with severe burn injuries inside a locked room late Friday night after emergency services were alerted to the scene.

The incident occurred shortly after the woman’s uncle, Avnish Kumar Sharma, filed a formal complaint with the Shikohabad police alleging that the 21-year-old man, Arun Kumar, had eloped with his 19-year-old niece, Khushi. Police were later dispatched to a house in the area after receiving an emergency alert regarding loud noises. The woman, Khushi, died from her injuries on Saturday morning, while Arun Kumar remains in a critical state having sustained approximately 70% burns. Police have recorded a statement from the man and have sent the woman's body for a post-mortem examination. While preliminary investigations suggest the case is linked to a love affair, local authorities continue to conduct further enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
