Dehradun, September 28: In a tragic incident, six people lost their lives when the vehicle they were travelling in got stuck in debris following a landslide at in Devprayag area of Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand on Saturday. Four people were also injured in the incident. According to reports, the mini-bus with Punjab registration number was hit by heavy boulders due to a landslide. After getting the information, police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) officials immediately reached the spot. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital. The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained. "We were informed by the locals about the accident and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), as well as the police, was rushed to the spot,” reported The Times of India quoting Tehri Garhwal district magistrate V Shanmugam.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Dehradun has already issued a warning for heavy to very rainfall in at least eight districts including Dehradun, Pauri Garhwal, Tehri Garhwal, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Pithoragarh on Saturday. Meanwhile, light showers have been predicted over the next 24 hours.
