Dehradun, August 18: In the wake of heavy rainfall warning in Uttarakhand schools and colleges in Udham Singh Nagar and Uttarkashi districts will be closed on Monday. Anganwadi centres of these districts will also remain shut due to heavy rain forecast in the state. Uttarkashi is the worst affected district of Uttarakhand. Several highways and roads were closed in the district following the heavy rainfall. Uttarakhand Rains: Several Roads Including the Uttarkashi-Dehradun Highway Closed Down After Flashfloods & Landslides.

The Gangotri and Yamunotri national highways were also remained shut for hours due to flash floods in the district. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat instructed the Uttarkashi District Magistrate and Disaster Management Secretary to carry out rescue operations. Meanwhile, heavy rains have also wreaked havoc in Himachal Pradesh. At least 18 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents in Himachal Pradesh. A high alert has also been issued in various districts including Kangra, Chamba, Kullu and Shimla. All the educational institution will also remain shut in Kullu and Shimla districts of the state.
