New Delhi, May 27: In a tragic incident, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker in West Bengal was shot dead by unidentified men on Sunday. According to a tweet by ANI, the BJP worker identified as Chandan Shaw, was shot dead by a group of assailants late on Sunday night. The horrific incident took place in Bhatapara of North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal. Another similar incident was reported on Sunday from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh where Union Mnister Smriti Irani's aid was shot dead. According to reports, a former village head, believed to be close to the newly-elected BJP was shot dead on Sunday morning. The incident lead to the arrest of seven suspects even as Irani pledged to find out the killer "even if he is hiding in hell".

After the cremation of Surendra Singh, the victim, anguished Irani told the media that she will also knock on the Supreme Court's door to ensure that the culprits got death sentence. According to a report by IANS, Irani rushed to Amethi from New Delhi and took part in his funeral along with Uttar Pradesh Minister Mohsin Raza and scores of party supporters.
