What Are the 3 Demands of CJP to the Central Government?

The Centre on Monday, July 20, opened a channel of communication with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), with Union minister JP Nadda meeting representatives of the organisation amid its 'Chalo Sansad' march in Delhi. CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the group submitted a written charter of demands and that Nadda sought time to discuss the issues with the BJP leadership before responding.

The meeting came amid protests over alleged irregularities in national competitive examinations, including the NEET-UG, and demands for accountability from the government. CJP leaders said the discussions marked the first formal engagement with the Centre since the protest intensified.

What Are The Three Demands Of CJP?

According to Ashutosh Ranka, the CJP placed three major demands before JP Nadda during the meeting:

Release Of Sonam Wangchuk

The first demand was the immediate release of activist Sonam Wangchuk from Safdarjung Hospital and allowing him to address supporters through a video message.

Ranka said, "First, Sonam Wangchuk ji should be released immediately and allowed to address people through a video message."

Wangchuk has been on a hunger strike linked to the protest over alleged failures in the education system and examination-related issues.

Resignation Or Removal Of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan

The second demand relates to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Ranka said, "Second, Dharmendra Pradhan ji, whom we consider an incompetent Education Minister, should either be removed immediately or his resignation should be accepted."

The CJP has been demanding accountability over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, including NEET-UG.

INR 1 Crore Compensation For Families Of Students

The third demand is compensation for families of students who allegedly died by suicide following the NEET paper leak controversy.

Ranka said, "Third, the families of the students who died by suicide following the NEET paper leak should be given compensation of INR 1 crore each."

What Did JP Nadda Assure?

After the meeting, Ashutosh Ranka said that Nadda would discuss the demands with the senior BJP leadership and communicate the decision to the organisation.

When asked what assurance they received from JP Nadda, Ranka said, "The only assurance I received was that he would discuss the matter with the senior leadership, and whatever is decided will be conveyed to us soon."

Ranka added that the meeting involved two rounds of discussions.

"We came to Nadda ji's residence at around 12 o'clock. We met him at around 2:15 pm. We placed 3 demands before him. First, Sonam Wangchuk ji should be released immediately and allowed to address people through a video message. Second, Dharmendra Pradhan ji, whom we consider an incompetent Education Minister, should either be removed immediately or his resignation should be accepted. Third, the families of the students who died by suicide following the NEET paper leak should be given compensation of Rs 1 crore each. There were two rounds of discussions, one at around 2 pm and another at around 4 pm. Nadda ji said he would discuss these demands with the senior leadership and communicate their decision to us."

CJP Claims No Further Crackdown

CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das claimed that Nadda assured the organisation that no further "crackdown" would take place at Jantar Mantar.

However, Delhi Police separately rejected allegations circulating on social media about violence during the protest. Police said a viral post alleging that personnel assaulted activist Sonam Wangchuk's wife Geetanjali Angmo and injured 40-50 protesters, including a 12-year-old girl, was false. Delhi Police urged people not to circulate misleading or unverified information.
