CJP Announces Disciplinary Action
In a statement posted on X, the party said Dahiya's actions were inconsistent with the values of the movement. "We strongly condemn the deeply insensitive actions of our spokesperson Vijeta Dahiya, whose videos surfaced while peaceful protestors and our team were facing brutal police violence. Such conduct is unacceptable, shows a complete lack of judgment, and is wholly inconsistent with the values and principles of our movement," CJP wrote on X.

The controversy gained momentum after the video spread across social media platforms. Vijeta Dahiya Responds to Criticism
Responding to the controversy, Dahiya released a video defending his actions, saying he had participated in the protest before leaving once he believed the march had concluded.
Addressing criticism over the viral clip, he said: "Why did I eat a burger? This is a big issue today. So why does anyone eat a burger? He is hungry. He wants to eat a burger. That's it. So I was also very hungry. And when you eat something good, your mind feels good."
Dahiya also said the public was overlooking the efforts made by those involved in organising and participating in the protest. "What people don't see is that I haven't slept for two nights. Neither have those who are part of the protest." He added that after leaving the march, he had returned home to take a shower before stopping to eat.
The action against Dahiya comes as the CJP continues its protest in Delhi, with organisers maintaining pressure on the government over their demands related to education reforms and student issues. The party has not announced any further disciplinary measures beyond removing Dahiya from his official role.
