As part of the revamp, the Congress has also appointed four UPCC vice-presidents, 12 general secretaries, and 24 secretaries. After the party's defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Raj Babbar had offered his resignation taking the moral responsibility of the loss.
According to reports, several senior state Congress leaders were unhappy with this move. They even voiced that it would not be fine to appoint a person who is new to the party. Priyanka Gandhi was said to be impressed by Lallu's performance, who had accompanied her in every agitation, including Sonbhadra agitation after the mass shooting.
