New Delhi, August 8: National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, deputed in Kashmir Valley since the abrogation of Article 370, has met the state's top political leaders Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, TV reports said on Thursday. The two leaders are currently jailed, along with scores of other politicians and activists in Jammu & Kashmir.

Doval was placed in Kashmir since Sunday, a day before the central government issued an executive order revoking J&K's special status by diluting Article 370. Since then, the state has remained on a lockdown, with internet and phone lines being suspended. Ghulam Nabi Azad's 'Money Power' Jibe on NSA Ajit Doval's Lunch With Locals in Kashmir's Shopian; Watch Video

On Monday, when the order to repeal the state's special status was issued, former chief ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti were taken into arrest, whereas, veteran politician Farooq Abdullah was allegedly placed under house arrest.

Mehbooba and Omar, before being taken into custody, issued a statement marking their strong disapproval of Article 370's abrogation. The move, they said, has inflicted a vicious  assault on Kashmir and would further alienate the people from mainstream India.

Farooq Abdullah, while speaking to reporters on Tuesday, said the leaders who are being jailed have consistently maintained their "pro-India stand". "This is not the India in which we believed. This is not the secular and pluralistic India which I knew," a teary-eyed Abdullah added.
